The Langbart Family invites you to become part of their Merrick Woods family. Jack and Marsha (aka Grammy and Poppa) spent their entire careers in camping, finally dedicating their efforts to Merrick Woods in 1977. Adam, Andy, and Owen were campers, counselors, and now work in key leadership positions at both Merrick Woods and Greenwood Trails. Together, we invite you to discover why "Your Family Grows Up At Merrick Woods!"
Adam and Amy Langbart / Owners and Directors
Adam Langbart began his career at Merrick Woods as a Counselor in Training way back in 1978. Since then, he has held positions as swim instructor, group leader, athletic specialist, and currently serves as Merrick Wood’s full time Director of the summer program as well as the nursery school, a position he has held since 1993. Adam holds a BA from The American University, as well as an AOS from The Culinary Institute of America. He has served as President of The New York State Camp Directors Association as well as Long Island Camps and Private Schools, Vice President of the American Camp Association – NY, Hospitality Chairman of the Tri-State Camping Conference, as well as serving on various Boards of Directors for both camp and non-camp organizations.
Amy and Adam met at Merrick Woods, and were married in 1997. Having worked as a teacher as well as group leader and supervisor, Amy now spends her summer days making sure all campers are happy, and maintaining the quality and excellence associated with our program. With their three daughters by their side, Adam and Amy will work diligently to make sure that every camper shares the positive experiences camp offered them, and make sure the Merrick Woods experience becomes a vital aspect of every camper’s development.
Our Staff
Most of the fine young men and women who are on our staff are familiar faces at Merrick Woods. Many started as campers here and worked their way up through the ranks. They are joined by motivated, well trained, experienced individuals who share a dedication to be positive, enthusiastic role models with this strong commitment: If there is anything that we can do to make your child's summer experience more productive, more meaningful and more fun, we will do it!
