The children in Room 5 took a wonderful trip to Hicks Nursery to go pumpkin
picking. We all boarded the Merrick Woods bus and went on our way. The first
exhibit that we enjoyed was the story of Otto the ghost with all his friends.
Otto decided to do something different this year. Instead of keeping all
the candy for himself, he decided to share it with those in need. Our next
venture was to walk through the store observing all the fall displays. We
saw scarecrows, Indian corn, pumpkins and beautiful mums. We even bought
some gourds to bring back for our science table. Next was a visit to the
animals den. There we saw goats, pigs, lambs, ducks, bunnies and a beautiful
peacock. Last but certainly not least, it was pumpkin-picking time. We examined
them carefully to be sure they were perfect in every way. Halloween is our
favorite time of year!
