As a teacher, if I can give the children one thing it would be to “love books.” So in honor of Dr. Seuss’s Birthday, the children in Room 1 were asked to bring in any Dr. Seuss books they had. They are all silly, have rhythm, and lots of rhymes, which makes them fun for the children to listen to. We then made our own Dr. Seuss hats by taping off lines and painting the rest red. After the red paint dried we tore the tape off the paper to show the white paper underneath. Next, we taped a cat’s tail onto the top to make it look like a cat was in the hat. The children then wore their hats as we read a book that was brought in. During the next two weeks, we read all the books that were brought in. The children really enjoyed making the hats as well as listening to the stories. So please read books to your children every day. It is not only good for their learning, but a great time to have some special quiet time together to bond. So read and enjoy!
