Miss Krista, Miss Susan
With the holidays fast approaching, we made a tasty treat often eaten at
Hanukkah time. First, we looked at whole potatoes. They were brown and round
in shape. Then they looked white after we peeled them. Next, we grated the
potatoes and watched their shape change. Some of the children said the potatoes
now looked like spaghetti. We also did the same with an onion. However,
the onion had a strong odor and made some of our eyes water. We added flour,
eggs, salt and pepper to the potatoes and onions and mixed it all together.
Finally, we fried the mixture and enjoyed delicious latkes or potato pancakes.
