Miss Jennifer and Miss Jessica
This January, the children in Room 11 learned about the Chinese New Year. We read the book My First Chinese New Year by Karen Katz. The children all enjoyed water coloring a dragon puppet. They learned that the dragon is a symbol of Chinese New Year and that the color red means good luck and happiness in China. The children had a great time dancing around our classroom with their dragon puppets. They also learned that 2006 is the year of the dog and how to say “Happy New Year” in Chinese – “Gung Hay Fat Choy”.
