Let’s Go Fly A Kite!!!
The children had so much fun making our kites and wind socks. They learned how you need the wind to make them fly way up in the sky, otherwise it will not fly. We had so much fun decorating the kites that we made. First, we sponge painted our small kites with different shapes and we made the tail out of ribbon and small bows. Even though we haven’t flown these kites they sure look pretty!
The second kite we made was a big one with brown table paper. It was decorated with 50 hearts that the children colored with markers (for the Merrick Woods 50th birthday celebration). We put sticks on the back and streamers and yarn to fly it with. All it took was a little wind and a little run, and up in the sky it went! The children had so much fun trying to keep it up in the air.
Our wind socks were made out of construction paper and decorated with markers and water. We put string for the handle and streamers on the bottom to help make it fly. The children had lots of fun running around the room with their wind socks (it was too cold to go outside).
